Module 9: Basic image processing

Processing image files is a process of editing that file. Programs such as LibreOffice Writer, Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Impress, Microsoft PowerPoint, all have basic tools for editing images. There are also specialized software for editing images, such as: open source GIMP; commercial software: Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro; a list of commercial and free software for editing digital photographs can be found at, link:

Via these quizzes, you can repeat or learn:

the basic terms and tools which are used while processing images:

– image size, resolution, background color; foreground color

– color model and the common color models: RGB, HSB, CMYK, grayscale

– color palette, color depth

– hue, saturation, color balance

using GIMP, the specialized program for image processing:

– change the printing properties (orientation: portrait, landscape; paper size) and print the image
